I tell Dunst she reminds me of River Phoenix, the magical lost boy to whom Interview with the Vampire was dedicated. The reference clicks. Immediately, Dunst spills out, “He was soooooo amazing – Running On Empty is one of my favorite movies. River was going to be in Interview with the Vampire! He was going to play Christian Slater’s role. He was so beautiful, so talented. Like, I watch Running On Empty and he’s just living life in the movie for you. You know?
